Everyday is a Saturday
Recently, a 10 year old said to me, "Everyday is like a Saturday."
That whole phrase didn't make much sense to me at first until I asked for more of an explanation to his theory.
Now let me back up a little. My original question to him was if he looked forward to watching Saturday morning cartoons. He replied, "Why wait for Saturday morning cartoons when they're on television everyday on Cartoon Network?" I guess it was just then that I realized that cartoons can be accessed at any point of the day on many different networks.
I remember when I used to look forward to the "good cartoons", like spider-man, superfriends, smurfs, X-Men, etc., to come on Saturday mornings. Sometimes it was almost like watching animated soap operas for kids. A network would have a half hour cartoon and then the ending would just leave you hanging so you couldn't help but look forward to the next episode the following week to find out what was going to happen next. It was just another reason to look forward to weekends, besides the fact that there was no school...you could sleep in, you could play outside longer with your friends...the list goes on.
I do admit that even at my ripe old age, that I still look forward to Saturday morning cartoons when I don't have to work on the weekends...The cartoons are much different now, but I love the whole concept of getting up in the morning and checking out the latest and greatest cartoons that kids are into.
